By following the 4 easy steps below, you will be able to add your A-Z of Bicester Project to this website. | print this page Step1: Register and Login If you forget your password, you will be able to enter your email address and request your password is emailed to you. Once you are logged in (you will see your user name logged in at the top), you will be able to do the following things: change your log in name or email address | change your password | create Projects Click here to go to the registration page now. Step 2: Create a Project You can then enter a description (up to x number
of words/characters) of your project. You will also be able to add a thumbnail image (75 pixels wide x 75 pixels high - see preparing images below) and a larger image (maximum of 450 pixels wide - see preparing images) below - these are images representing your whole project (e.g. a photo of the children in Mrs Smith's Class 2 at Bicester Infant School). Click on the 'browse' button to find and select the relevant images you have saved on your computer. Finally, click on the 'submit project' button. You will then see 'Letter' and a 'New Letter' button. Step 3: Add A-Z entries to your Project By clicking on the 'New Letter' button, you will be able to add your A-Z entry or entries (depending on which Project Type you selected earlier). If you chose individual letters as your project type, you will need to select the appropriate letter for your entry. Then you can add the following: Title (if different from project title); Author(s) (if different from registrant); Text; Thumbnail image (Click on the 'browse' button to find and select the relevant images you have saved on your computer); Picture (Click on the 'browse' button to find and select the relevant images you have saved on your computer); Flash Movie (Click on the 'browse' button to find and select the relevant flash movie you have saved on your computer); Sound File (Click on the 'browse' button to find and select the relevant sound file you have saved on your computer); Video Movie (Click on the 'browse' button to find and select the relevant video file you have saved on your computer) Once you have completed this, click on the 'Add Letter to Project' button. Step 4: Submit your Project for Approval In order to ensure that only appropriate language and images are viewable on the Bicester A-Z website, all Projects are subject to an approval process. See legal for more information. Until you submit your project for Approval, it will be a draft project and you will be able to edit it until you are satisfied with all your entries. Once you have finished and are satisfied, you will need to submit your project for approval. To do this, you need to be logged into your project, and then go to the 'Project List' page, where you will see your project(s) listed. By each one, you will see its current status (either: 'Draft Project' or 'Awaiting Approval' or 'Live'). Click on the 'Submit for Approval' button and the status will change to 'Awaiting Approval. Once your project has been viewed and approved, it will be made live - you will notice the status in your project list area (in the login area), the project will be viewable on the website (you can use the search on the left hand side of the main website pages), and if it is one of the most recent Projects to be made live, it will be highlighted in 'Recent Contributions' on the home page. Editing your Project after it has been made live Should you want to make a change to a project once it has been approved and made live on the website, you will be able to login to your project area and make the changes. You will, however, need to submit the project for approval again. Preparing images for your Project: Thumbnail images are the small images that are displayed at Project level, or in search results if the letter or Project contains graphic elements. These images need to measure 75 pixels wide x 75 pixels high. Use your image editing software to resize your main image. Tip: If you resize the longest dimension to 75 pixels, then you can add empty or white space either side of the graphic until the remaining dimension measures 75 pixels. Save your image as the smallest (in file size) jpg that still looks acceptable on your computer. Larger images you may add to your Project must be a maximum of 450 pixels wide (so that they fit on the webpage). They can be as high as they need to be, when you resize them to fit to 450 pixels wide or less. Save your image as the smallest (in file size) jpg that still looks acceptable on your computer. |
